Entrepreneur Coach, Bri Seeley, has been living in Tulsa, Oklahoma for two years. Bri will share with us the best parts of Tulsa, and why she loves where she lives.
If I only had 24 hours to visit Tulsa, describe what I should do.
There’s so much to do in Tulsa! Start your day by exploring historic Route 66, head over to Turkey Mountain for a hike, tour the Bob Dylan archive museum, visit the Greenwood Cultural Center, catch a hockey, baseball or soccer game and cap your day off with a concert at Cain’s Ballroom!
What is your favourite restaurant / cafe / eating / drinking place there?
Chimera features a vast range of food options for everyone – from coffee to cocktails, breakfast tacos to cauliflower steaks, gluten-free pastries to carrot cake, your entire party should be able to find something that suits their needs. Not to mention, Chimera features their own proprietary coffee as a regional micro-roaster.
If you could suggest for me to just do ONE thing in Tulsa, Oklahoma, what would it be and why?
I would recommend to catch the sunset from the rooftop of the Mayo Hotel. The hues of the sky at sunset are the most brilliant pinks, oranges and yellows imaginable.
What is one thing Tulsa should be known for and why?
After moving here with several other new Tulsans, we began to joke that the city’s motto should be “Tulsa, who knew?” The truth is that while Tulsa is known for oil, a race massacre and the dust bowl, it is truly a diversely and well rounded city. I wish it was known for the unique restaurants, cultural exhibits and outdoor activities that make it the comprehensive destination it is.
Tell me about your favourite outdoor activity there
The Gathering Place is the perfect place to sit by the koi pond with a cup of coffee, catch a sunset over the river, watch a concert on the green, or rent a kayak. Not to mention, it is an award winning park which was designed to provide inclusive and engaging experiences for all Tulsans to come together to explore, learn, and play.

The Dust Bowl greets you with wood paneled walls, vintage carpeting and vinyl booths. Despite some of the modern updates it still feels as if you’re stepping into a time machine as you lace up your shoes and prepare to bowl!
Imagine I am blind. If I come to visit Tulsa, Oklahoma, how would you describe it to me?
The best thing about Tulsa is the people. The city is filled with the kindest people that truly make it one of the best places I’ve ever lived. Complete strangers go out of their way to help in genuine and caring ways. It is the true epitome of Southern Hospitality.
What makes Tulsa stand out compared to nearby places?
The thing which made Tulsa stand out to me prior to moving was the immense history of the city. I hadn’t understood the impact this city had on our nation’s history. As the “Oil Capital of the World,” Tulsa was able to mostly avoid the Depression, resulting in the highest prevalence of Art Deco per capita of any city in the United States.
What is the best thing to do as a solo traveler in Tulsa and why?
It’s so easy to meet people here and have conversations with strangers. Grab yourself a coffee or green juice at Inheritance and chat with a local.
What is the best thing to do as a couple and why?
There are plenty of couples activities in Tulsa. My favorites usually involve an outdoor element with an excuse to hold hands like live music at the botanical gardens, an outdoor movie at Guthrie Green or the holiday light display at the Philbrook.
Is there anything else I should know about why you love where you live?
Tulsa is an underestimated city. What I love most about showing Tulsa to new visitors is seeing their shock and surprise when they experience the myriad of food, adventures and historical sites the city has to offer.
